Zilmon J. Boothe (born October 21, 1879) married Augusta Iris “Gussie” Rochelle on April 25, 1906. He completed this family residence in 1908 on a lot purchased from his mother. Boothe operated as a successful stockman and in partnership with his brother-in-law F. B. Houston. In 1910 he sold the property and moved to San Antonio, where he handled farm and ranch real estate and was known to meet clients in the lobby of the Gunter Hotel, which had opened in 1909 and quickly became a business meeting point. Zilmon died June 4, 1945. Gussie died July 26, 1966. Both are buried at Memorial Park Cemetery in San Antonio.
House history and architecture
Completed in 1908, the dwelling is a representative late-Victorian era town residence on Saint George Street. Surviving tour features and house-history notes confirm early twentieth-century porch and gable detailing consistent with neighborhood construction of that decade.
